How to Begin Your Home Search Online

FindYourNewHome_01

Searching for a home during this time might seem daunting. Luckily, we live in an age where we can do almost anything from our phones! Everyone across the home building and real estate industry has taken their online presence to the next level, and we want to help you take advantage of that! Here are our best tips on how to search for a new home without leaving your couch:

Google is your friend!

Everyone starts with Google, and builders know that! We make our sites as optimized as possible to be on the first page of results as you begin your search. So, what should you type in to start your search? Well, that depends on what is most important to you about your home! If it is location, try typing in “new homes for sale in Fishers” or whatever city you are interested in to get results for that area. Whether it is school districts, square footage, or even certain neighborhoods or communities, the more specific your search terms are, the better!

Next Stop, A Listing Website. (Think Zillow or Realtor.com)

Once you have an idea of what builders you like, and what area you’d like to be in, check out your favorite listing site to see information on pricing and size of new construction vs. resale homes. You are likely to discover that a new home is cost effective and will save you money in the long run due to higher efficiency requirements for homes built today. On these sites, you can also see  proximity of a home’s location to various places such as schools and grocery stores!

You’ve picked a builder and a community! Now what?

If the builder you have chosen has multiple floorplan options, now is the time to use all of the awesome virtual tools they have available on their website! See which plans suit your needs best using a virtual tour to walk through the home. Or, check out what options you have available to add space or specific upgrades using an interactive floorplan. Once you feel good about your research, fill out a form to speak with a community specialist, or make an appointment to visit a model home.
